Getting Started

Getting started is easy. We hope to outline everything you need in this section but if you have additional questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

Our jumps are usually ready to ski by Christmas, but this depends on snow conditions and man-made snow we receive from Highland Ski and Snowboard Area.

Step 1 - Contact Us:
Contact one of our coaches either by phone or with a visit to the jumps, they're out Tuesday and Thursday nights and Saturday afternoons. Chris Broz, Tony Geye, Ed Karow, Dan Miller, and Josh Fuller share coaching responsibilities at the jumps and are happy to answer any questions you may have. While at the jumps coaches are often found at the midpoint or base of the jumps.

Step 2 - Become a member:
In order to use our facilities you must be a member of the Minneapolis Ski Club. membership forms are available onsite and online. To expedite the process we recommend you print and complete the forms at home and bring them with you when you plan on starting. We accept cash or checks for membership dues as well as equipment rental.

Step 3 - Equipment Rental:
When you plan to get started, it's best to get to the facilities no later than 7pm on week nights and 11am on Saturdays. One of our coaches will get you set up with equipment (Equipment is rented on a first come first serve basis). Ski rental is $20 a day or $100 for the season (Recommended).

Note: Helmets are not available for rental. For beginners on the 10 meter ski jump we do not require helmets but we always recommend them. Jumping on any of our larger jumps requires a helmet.

Step 4 - Determining Skill Level:
We do not require any previous experience on ski's, however experience with alpine skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding or ice skating helps an individual progress at a faster rate. The coaches will ask questions about previous skiing experience and determine the best place to start.

All jumpers start on our smallest hill. A skier moves to the next level when they develop the appropriate skills and confidence.
